Many of Whitby Morrison staff began their working lives as 'Whitby' apprentices, developing unique specialised skills that they would be unlikely to gain elsewhere. Their job satisfaction, development and of course commitment, is a major factor for our continued success.
Our annual intake of apprentices relates to the requirements of the various production departments. We have a wide variety of trades and skills available to learn, backed up by industry-recognised qualifications gained through further academic study. A typical working week will see the Apprentice spend one day in five at college with the remaining time spent learning within the workplace.
These experiences enable the apprentice to enhance their general understanding of the working environment and equally important their personal development. Of course, it also provides an opportunity to become recognised as one of the most capable and respected craftsmen within the industry.
The apprenticeship programme enables the individual to work with a broad age range, and people with different abilities and from unfamiliar backgrounds. It is these skills that assist them with their future development.
