Sam Palin
Role: Team Leader: Coachbuild – general go-to person.
Length of service: Started in 2010.
What are your expert areas? Interior fit and general motivational player in helping the rest of the team work under pressure, and build the best Ice Cream Vans in the world.
Background? Where did you grow up? Schools? What were you doing before working at Whitby Morrison? I am local to Whitby Morrison, having been born and grown up in Crewe. I studied at nearby Kings Grove High School before joining the company at the age of 16.
What are the values that you share with Whitby Morrison? Being helpful, listening to others, guidance on best practice and a bloody good work ethic
If you could add one thing to the Factory Whitby Morrison, what would it be? A darts board would be nice, maybe a football pitch, or, failing that, a hot tub and a bar.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be? Be able to see into the future – not just for lottery numbers
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you? I can look in two different directions at once
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a pilot but there was on chance I’d have ever passed the sight test.
Who would play you in a movie about your life? The Milkybar Kid would have been a good option (according to the rest of the team here)
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend? If I’m not at work, I’ll be out running and spending time with my thousands of children.
Are you a dog person or a cat person (or neither)? Dog (due to owning one called Elsie)
What’s your favourite sport to watch, and which team do you support? Football, a Manchester United supporter that’s never left Crewe.
What do you like most about your job? I enjoy the variety and the continual progression and improvement. It gives us chance to offer our opinions and use our own ideas rather than just be told what to do.
What are your hobbies? Running, I try to run everywhere in the Summer months whenever possible.
What is your favourite film? The Wolf of Wall Street – it shows that you can achieve anything if you believe in it enough.
What is your favourite food? Pasta and Pizza, certainly when ive been running. Id like to learn to cook these for myself when I have more time.
Favourite quote? I’m not really a fan of quotes (they confuse me).
I will never be seen without? My glasses… (see what I did there).
What is Whitby Morrison? A great place to work, a never-ending story with more and more exciting chapters around each corner. It has huge potential.
