As well as Ice Cream Vans, Crewe is famous for the railway and Rolls Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. Perhaps not as well know, Crewe is also famous for the local American Football Team; the Crewe Railroaders.
Gary Delaney who founded the team in the 1980s has seen more than 5 years of hard work and persistence come to fruition as his film hits the big screen.
The film charts the story of lead character Derek and his dream to set up an American Football Team. Set in the mid 1980s, the film was shot entirely on location in Crewe.
When Whitby Morrison first heard about the project, we couldn’t wait to get on board and help contribute to ensure the film got made and the story told. We were officially made Production Partners for the film and even supplied (and operated) an original 1984 Whitby Bedford CF for one of the scenes.
Titled Gridiron UK, it will be available on DVD from early October with a potential limited cinema release also currently being finalised.
